The organisers of the 2018 San Sebastian Classic are sad to announce that the 2018 Classic will not feature GPS rider tracking. The decision was taken in the light of the rejection by Velonan association comprised of 11 WorldTour teams, to collaborate with the organisers to improverider safety and bring cycling even closer to its fans.

Velon’s decision is due mainly to commercial interests. The organisers are very upset and feel offended by Velon’s decision. However EITBs big push to improve race broadcasting with live information and the work put in by Basque firm Helmuga CyclingCloud should not go unnoticed and we, therefore, applaud their work and dedication to continue improving cycling and this race in particular.

Given this hugedisappointment, OCETA will be taking steps to ensure that the situation is not repeated in future. The case will be presented to both UCI and AIOCC to ensure future regulation.
